Ibanez JS3CR Electric Guitar | Joe Satriani JS Series

The Ibanez JS3CR Chrome Boy is a Joe Satriani signature electric guitar built around a distinctive chrome-style finish and a fast, expressive playing design. Beyond its appearance, the model uses carefully selected DiMarzio humbuckers, a floating Edge tremolo and a 22-fret neck shaped for detailed phrasing. It is a high-end instrument for players who want expressive lead control and a guitar with a strong visual identity.

Chrome Boy finish and sculpted JS body

The chrome-effect finish is one of this model’s defining features. Ibanez describes a specialised finishing process intended to create the metallic visual character associated with Joe Satriani’s Chrome Boy design. Because of how this finish is produced on a curved wooden instrument, slight surface variations may be part of its accepted manufacturing standard. Buyers who care strongly about cosmetic detail should request current photos of the exact guitar rather than relying only on catalogue renders.

22-fret maple neck and rosewood fingerboard

A one-piece maple neck carries a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium frets and carefully treated fret edges. The 25.5-inch scale offers familiar string tension, while the contoured JS body helps support comfortable upper-fret access. The overall arrangement is made for accurate articulation, fluid string bending and expressive solo playing rather than maximum number of frets.

PAF Pro and Satchur8 pickups with extra tonal control

The neck pickup is a DiMarzio PAF Pro humbucker, while the bridge carries a DiMarzio Satchur8 designed for Joe Satriani’s powerful and expressive sound. Push-pull controls add a coil-tap option and a high-pass filter, helping create additional textures and preserve clarity when changing the guitar’s volume setting. This flexibility is useful for players who combine clear melodic parts with singing, high-gain leads.

Edge tremolo and choosing a signature guitar

The Ibanez Edge tremolo provides controlled pitch movement for vibrato, dives and other expressive techniques, supported by a locking nut and Gotoh tuning hardware. Ibanez lists a hardshell case with the model, subject to confirming the supplied package. The JS3CR makes sense for experienced players who want the full Chrome Boy experience; consider the care needs of the unusual finish and a professional tremolo setup before purchase.
