Dunlop KH95X Kirk Hammett Cry Baby Wah

The Dunlop KH95X Kirk Hammett Collection Cry Baby Wah is a special-edition guitar wah pedal in a striking Purple Sparkle finish, created as a tribute to the Metallica guitarist’s expressive lead sound. It is based on the wah settings used in Kirk Hammett’s Cry Baby Rack Wah, rather than being a conventional multi-effects pedal. Dunlop now classifies the KH95X as a legacy product that is no longer in production, so buyers should confirm the exact unit and its condition before purchasing.

Kirk Hammett-inspired wah character

The KH95X is voiced for a pronounced midrange, a thick upper-register response and a smooth transition as the pedal moves from heel to toe. That makes the effect particularly useful when a guitarist wants a lead melody to stand out against distorted rhythm guitars. The pedal can add expression to sustained notes, alternate picking and fast melodic passages, but it also works as a rhythmic colour when used more subtly. Unlike a standard tone knob, the wah changes the emphasised frequency continuously as you move your foot.

An even treadle response for expressive solos

Dunlop based the signature voice on the rack wah sound Hammett used for performance. The treadle is designed to react consistently across its sweep, letting the player make small, repeatable changes rather than having most of the effect happen in a narrow part of the pedal’s movement. Try slow sweeps for sustained solo phrases, rhythmic heel-to-toe motion for a more percussive feel or leaving the pedal in a fixed position for a distinctive filtered tone. The sound will depend on your pickups, amplifier and gain settings.

Purple Sparkle signature finish

The Purple Sparkle enclosure is inspired by the visual character of Hammett’s purple sparkle Ouija guitar. Its finish distinguishes the KH95X from the better-known black KH95 while keeping the underlying Kirk Hammett wah concept. It is a collectible-looking pedal, but it should still be evaluated as functional musical equipment. If the cosmetic finish matters to you, request photos of the exact item before ordering, especially because this edition is no longer part of Dunlop’s current production range.

Power, compatibility and choosing a wah

The KH95X can be used with a 9V battery or a suitable regulated Dunlop-compatible power supply; confirm whether an adapter is included with the listing. Standard guitar signal connections allow it to fit into most conventional electric guitar setups. Choose this pedal if you want Hammett’s mid-focused wah character and the limited Purple Sparkle look. If you mainly want a classic all-purpose wah at a lower price, compare the Cry Baby GCB95 or CBM95. Ask Barbad about the exact package, current availability and UAE delivery.
