Kawai CA501R Digital Home Piano With Bench | Rosewood

The Kawai CA501R is a Concert Artist digital home piano in Premium Rosewood, intended for pianists who value the feel of wooden keys and a detailed acoustic-piano sound. Its Grand Feel Compact mechanism uses the same basic pivot principle found in acoustic grand actions, while its modern sound and connectivity features make everyday practice more flexible. The CA501 is a considered step up from standard digital home pianos for serious students, teachers and players with established technique.

Grand Feel Compact wooden-key action

The CA501 uses 88 long wooden keys supported by a seesaw-style mechanism and graded hammers. Triple sensors can capture repeated notes accurately, while let-off simulation adds a subtle sensation when playing very softly. Textured Ivory Touch key surfaces provide comfortable control, and counterweights in the bass help regulate the feel across different dynamic levels. These details are useful when practising nuanced phrasing, balancing inner voices and building confidence on repertoire written for acoustic grand piano.

SK-EX Competition Grand sound and acoustic detail

Kawai’s Harmonic Imaging XL sound engine uses individual note sampling and features the tone of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Competition Grand. Acoustic resonance and Virtual Technician settings give the player meaningful control over aspects of touch and tone. The CA501 supports up to 256-note polyphony, helping complex passages retain clarity. This is especially valuable when sustained pedal, layered textures or rich chord voicings are part of the music.

100W four-speaker system and wireless features

A 100-watt four-speaker system with diffuser panels projects sound around the player rather than relying on a small pair of forward-facing drivers. Bluetooth MIDI and Audio allow compatible devices to interact with learning apps or play backing tracks through the piano. USB audio recording and playback are practical for listening to your own performances. For shared accommodation or evening practice, headphone functions provide additional flexibility without disturbing others.

Rosewood cabinet, pedals and choosing your piano

The Premium Rosewood finish adds a traditional furniture-like appearance to the modern Concert Artist design. The CA501 includes a three-pedal Grand Feel system and an accessible OLED control display. Its cabinet requires a permanent location and careful delivery planning rather than frequent movement. Compare the CA501 with the more advanced CA901 if a larger wooden-key action and a soundboard-based speaker system are priorities.
