Camac Excalibur Walnut — 38-String Concert Lever Harp
The Camac Excalibur is a full-size concert lever harp for players looking for a 38-string range with fluorocarbon stringing. This listing features the walnut finish. Compared with a smaller student lever harp, its 148 cm height gives buyers more instrument to accommodate, so playing position, transport and intended repertoire all deserve consideration.
Range and string feel
Camac specifies 38 strings, from 1C to 6A (C00–A36). The Excalibur uses Kürschner fluorocarbon strings in the Excalibur gauge through D26, with Galli lever wires in the upper range. This differs from the Camac Celtic nylon strings of the Concert Mélusine. String material and tension may influence the way a harp feels to the hands; the most suitable choice depends on the player’s technique and preferences.
Construction, size and moving the harp
The body uses maple and beech, while the soundboard is spruce. Camac publishes a height of 148 cm and weight of approximately 15 kg. Those figures describe the instrument, not the dimensions of a protective case or the space needed to play comfortably. Check doorways, vehicle space, handling and protection against heat or humidity swings when planning transport in the UAE.
Excalibur compared with Concert Mélusine
The Camac Concert Mélusine also has 38 strings over the same published range, but it is 137 cm tall and 14 kg and uses Camac Celtic nylon stringing with Galli lever wires. The Excalibur is 11 cm taller and uses fluorocarbon stringing. Neither size nor string material alone establishes that one harp is better; compare seating position, touch, tone and repertoire when choosing.
