Camac Ulysse White Lever Harp

Camac Ulysse White — 34-String Lever Harp with Built-In Pickup

The Camac Ulysse is a lightweight concert lever harp for players who need acoustic playing and an amplification option in one instrument. This listing is for the white finish. Its carbon-fibre body, spruce soundboard and titanium tuning pegs are important construction differences from a more traditional wooden harp.

String range and playing feel

Camac lists 34 strings, from 1A to 6C (A1–C34), with Alliance fluorocarbon strings over A1–D26 and Galli lever wires in the remaining range. String material and the harp’s playing feel are useful points to compare with other concert lever harps; suitability depends on technique, repertoire and personal preference.

Weight, dimensions and transport

At 130 cm high and approximately 8.5 kg, the Ulysse is lighter than many other concert lever harps. The carbon-fibre body and titanium tuning pegs contribute to its relatively low weight. It still needs appropriate protection when transported: check playing space, an adequate cover and exposure to heat or rapid humidity changes in the UAE.

Acoustic playing and electronic amplification

The spruce soundboard produces sound acoustically without an amplifier. Camac also specifies an integrated Ischell Box pickup system and preamp for connection to appropriate amplification or recording equipment. Ask about required cables and power for your intended setup; no pickup system eliminates all possible feedback.

Compare Ulysse with Camac Aziliz

The Camac Aziliz also offers 34 Alliance-fluorocarbon strings, but uses a wood body and has a published weight of around 11 kg. The Ulysse is approximately 2.5 kg lighter and includes a pickup/preamp according to Camac. Consider amplification, carrying weight, string feel and playing position before choosing.
